YEAR 4

Let the new school year begin!

(Still, it was sad to see the end of my holidays at the beach and saying goodbye to family.)

Welcome back to all our students and a warm hello to the new children who have joined us.

To the Year 4’s, going to a new school or starting a new school year can be a little scary and exciting.

Moving into the senior section of the primary school is a big milestone for you all as you leave the junior classes behind. You are now more responsible for your actions and decisions and your teachers and parents will give you all the support and encouragement that will help you to become better independent thinkers, learners, and decision makers.

This upcoming study year will have its challenges and you will soon discover that it is alright to make mistakes as that’s how we all learn.

You’re all smart and very special and there’s lots to learn in Year 4, so let’s have many laughs, some fun and play lots of games as well.

We look forward to meeting your families and to working together with them, to help you.

Some early learning tips:

• Think carefully about your own learning and set goals for yourself.
• Find a quiet place at home to complete your homework tasks carefully and to present work neatly.
• Think for yourself and ask questions as these are significant learning skills.
• Good readers make excellent writers so read as much as you can.
• Practise your times tables regularly and go back over them in the car, at mealtimes, before bed, when walking the dog, at any spare moment! (Check out Oxford Maths for some fabulous times table resources.)

Work hard this year, impress yourself and have a fantastic time.
